Title: Front plate stand offs
Post by: tlanders on August 10, 2006, 10:53:28 AM
I have seen aluminum front number plate mounting brackets that clamp on the fork tubes and stand the plate off about 1.5" to 2" in front of the fork tubes. This gives the brake/throttle/clutch cables some room behind the plate. Does anyone know where to buy these brackets? The ones I have been getting only stand the plate off about 0.5".

Teddy, all the ones I've made for them I did on a lathe, (32-35mm)  To get the  number plate to stick out further , you may have to bolt or weld a bush or land to the number plate bracket,  Good idea anyway.  I nade mine radially big enough to put 10-24 bolts in it to fasten the 2 halves.  They  stick out about a 1/2" max.

Just as another option, check out the nice front number plate mounting system that DC Plastics offer. The billet aluminum mounts are on E-Bay from time to time, but much more pricey.
