I have gotten a little feed back that we could use a gathering of POGgers in the NE. Anyone up for it?? Looking for dates and locations. Prefer southern Vt, or NH or possibly central Mass. Lets get started now. thx Dan
Dan, again i am up for this, would love to get out of the South Jersey sand box !!, i have no knowledge of that area but would gladly go if it could be set up, i will watch this post, thanks, Mike G. from NJ.

Hey Thrownchain,
I am interested also. How about meeting at the vintage ride that Rain Man was talking up. I believe it to be Sept 3 in Somers Conn.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

OK now were rolling, not building any speed yet, but moving along. You people in the area have to pick a localle, I'll be traveling in myself, so tell me where to go.
I like Raymond's idea, but will not be able to go as I am moving two kids into colleges that are six hours apart. I would like to offer this up, although it would require coming to Maine. A friend of mine has 500 acres of land and built two motocross tracks over the past 4 years. It is getting rave reviews with the northest MX community, and there is talk of trying to get a NETRA date for a harescramble next year. I have volunteered there for four years and have a standing invitation to use the tracks and the 8-10 miles of trails that are there. Maybe too late to put this together this year, but it might work. It would have to be on a non race weekend. The track is Hemond's Motocross Park, and has a small web site. It is in Minot, Maine if you want to mapquest it. We are 2.5 hours from Boston, 4 hours from Burlington, VT., 3.5 hours from Providence, RI.
For those who have to travel, there are hotels in Auburn, about 10 miles away. Although I have a cellar full of Pentons, none are riders yet, so I would have to ride a KTM.

Ok, we now have a possible destination, does this location meet with everyones approval??
Is it a better idea to meet on a non race weekend or go to watch the race??
What kind of amenities are there at the track site?? Any camping? Any tents or pavillions?? Running water? BBQ ?? Place to hold a small swap meet??
Should we meet in the spring, summer or fall?? Everyone has to agree to get this to work. We could even put it on the POG calender. Maybe give out an award for farthest traveler, most Pentons, any other odd idea.
Get it set now so we've got time to plan for it . Keep up the work>
This might become something. To answer a few of the questions, the property is a huge hay and cow corn farm, as well as several hundred acres of woods. It is a very rural area and there is some really nice trail riding in all directions. The tracks are situated well back from the road, with plenty of room for camping, a swap meet, etc. Race weekends will have several hundred campers and motorhomes easily accomodated. There is running water and outhouses, as well as concessions, but no BBQ pits, showers, or tents/ pavillions. If there is enough interest, I am sure I can get a vintage race, for fun, on the docket anytime. We could meet, watch the races, have fun, as well as do a nice trail ride. I would like to suggest next fall as it is cooler, less buggy and quite scenic, but that is open to discussion. Maine has miles of sandy beaches, lakes everywhere, and lots to do if someone wants to spend more time here. We have a mountain to ride to a few miles away that has views to the ocean, into NH and VT, and Canada. My club has a fall ride that we could tie in with that is about 80 miles. I could get that shortened up considerably for a vintage ride, or maybe modern bikes for the whole ride.
We have a race this weekend, so I will put a bug in the owners ears for moving ahead. The '07 schedule will be out shortly, so we can pick a date based on popular opinion. Post your thoughts and ideas.
Bill
PS, Thrownchain and others... how about some first names?
Downeast Pentons- Central Division
OK guys, Bill has a good location, everybody up for a nice end of season vacation in Maine?? Do a little racing and trail riding, swap some parts and have a good time?? We've got plenty of time to plan, get the bikes ready and put in for time off from work. I'm up for it, count me in.
Dan
Just got back from a 40 hour week in my garage... cough, cough, hack wheww. gasp (dam grit blasters and welders!!! )
Yup Yup, Bikes are just running astronomical at this point. 1st kick, run all day, no flats or fouled plugs. [8D] brandy shiny new like...
I mentioned in an earlier post about a Vintage Hare scramble this coming Holiday weekend, Sept. 3rd. Its a fund raiser and not cheap
Its in Somers Conneticut, should be fun.
My trucks always filled up, I Will bring reinforcements for sure. Your trails or mine. Slow or fast. I'm in lets do it
BTW I did get a fellow Poggers 6 day running after a 25 year hiatus.

The upcoming Ct outing would be OK, but it's a little too short notice for me. We could put it on the calender for next year??
Come on guys if make plans for Maine in the fall 07, how many would actually show up?? Do we make plans for 6 or 60. It's a long drive for me to hang out with 6 people. Not that it would be a bad thing.
Is some one going to tell us," hold it and we will come??" Put some posts up here saying count me in!!
Dan
72, 73, 74 Six Day projects.
In order for me to pull a favor at the track, we would need to have a decent number of people, unless it was just to do a meet and greet, watch some racing, and do a trail ride. Realizing that Maine is a long way from everywhere, maybe another venue would serve us better. I am open to anything and willing to travel. This potential may be the push I need to get a few bikes going. Ray has been after me for two years, but life has gotten in the way, and I have not made any progress. Lets keep this discussion going. I have always wanted to ride in the Berkshires?? That would be closer to all.... Lets find something to do.
Bill
Downeast Pentons- Central Division
We could keep the meet and greet as an option. Come on you guys from the Albany, NY, western Mass. areas, any riding areas you'd like to share??
You know what?? I'm not going to let this die. We've had a few people step up and say that a get together would be a good thing.
At this point in the year, planning for next year would be the way to go. What are some of the favorite races that are held in New England?? Are they vintage friendly?? We've got to put a calender together and see who can show up at what event. Don't sit back and let someone else do it, show a little pride and show us your area of the country. ;)
Dan is right........if Tucson Arizona and Texas can have a Chapter that meets you guys should be able to pull it off. It is 800 miles from my drive way to Tucson city limits what would be your longest drive time? Go for it Dan.[:p]
Ron Carbaugh
Thanks Ron,
I can cover most of the NE in under 10 hrs. The meeting mentioned by Down East Pentons I could travel to in about 8 - 8 1/2 hrs.I'm about the same distance from Mid Ohio. So come on guys, here's a POGger from Tx that says this is do-able. Lets not disappoint him.[^]
Dan,
I like your spirit. Just a FYI I also collect outboard racing engines and we have what we call dry meets(in the dead of Winter) where we just bring our favorite engine, in this case Penton, or one we need help fixing and have a meet. It actually has helped a lot of people help other repair a problem on a bike that another member has already seen. Just a thought.
Ron Carbaugh
I don't care if we meet at a bike shop or bowling alley, just looking for a venue where we can get together and chew the fat, bench race, maybe a little inpromptu bike show, watch a race, what ever floats the boat. Could be someones favorite resturant, meeting area, you pick the place and put out the word.
Dan,
I am on the road much of my time and was in Albany Wednesday and Thursday. I am the developmental guy for territory expansion for a large junk food distributor based in Maine. We have acquired companies all over Vermont, Plattsburgh, and Albany and will be expanding further this fall. I could maybe drag Raymond carcass west with me sometime if we can find a more central spot to meet sometime. Maybe Unadilla, Southwick or something next year? Just keeping this alive.
Bill
Downeast Pentons- Central Division
Unadilla or Broome Tioga are my backyard, Southwick is a possible. Lets keep working this.[^]
If you go back to a post from 7 3 06 from ricky racer, about the promoter at Budds Creek owns a never started 125 Penton. Maybe we could put together a get together there? Maybe the promoter could let us set up a compound for Pentons?? He sounds like our kind of guy. Someboby want to run with the ball, or give me a phone # to call?? Don't bail on me now.[:p]
I'm going to keep putting this back at the top until some kind of a solution comes up. Or until somebody tells me it's a lost cause.
Dan,
How far are you from Albany? I will be there often this month and next. Any venue that I could tie in to a visit out there? Sure is nice to be able to travel for work and get free room and board to have some fun.
Bill
Downeast Pentons- Central Division
I am about 3 hrs west of Albany.
I told you, I'm not letting this drop, somebody has got to have some ideas. Come on it's getting ready to snow up here,[ weather man said so ]. Are there any spring events that are any bodies favorites, or maybe early summer?? Any event would do, MX, cross country, trials, car show, county fair, something???????????????????????
dan, if your looking for something to do sunday. ahmra northeast has a race in lawton pa.it takes me a hour 20 minutes from dryden, there is always 3-5 pog members racing. start about 9 am. you can get directions off the ahmra web site or give me a call, 607-844-9819, thanks, dennis
Thanks Dennis, this weekend is already full, but if you could send me a list of "local" races I'd appreciate it.
sorry this the last race of the season for the northeast.
OK, let's get prepared to start up in the spring. Still looking for others to chime in on possible places to try to congregate during the next race season. I'm not really able to take off on short notice. I really have to start planning now for next years Mid Ohio. But some more local races I could put on my calender with as little as a couple weeks notice. So by all means when you come up with a good possibilty, put it on here and we'll see what kind of feed back we can generate. Lets make next year work.[^]
Dan, hi, i just added a post to Penton Racing Talk, the club i belong to is having our 3rd annual Vintage race, in N.J. just North of Atlantic City, i know this is short notice but it was desided upon at the last meeting, VERY Vintage Friendly Race, mostly grass track and a small woods section that is used for the Quads -wide open-, maybe-maybe !!!, thanks, Mike G. { REMINDER !! - Race is this Sat. Just a little cpr to get this back in sight .
Just a little cpr to get this back in sight .
Well I guess there is not alot to do in the NE, so I guess I'm headed south. You'll find a post here for a gathering in NC in April, it's on my list. And from the Hodaka website is the Blue Diamond Run in May, also on my list. With a little luck I should be able to do one weekend a month, gathering with other Pentonites somewhere in this country, with the VMD in July and the 07 reunion ride in the fall. I only need a couple of more to fill out my calender? Mike from Jersey, you with me????? Lets get this boat in the water and see how she floats.[^]
I figured it was time to drag this up from the basement and put it in sight again. Any NE people going to the POG meeting in Feb?? I'm not sure yet, but I'd like to.
I get the feeling I'm pushing a bike with a flat tire, out of gas and the chain is broke.
Dan, Ya shoulda checked the air in your tires, filled the tank with gas, and installed new chain wheels on your bike !! Maybe then ya won't hafta push it :D
All the Penton fellas I know that are active in the NorthEast are also racing/riding with NETRA. There also officers in the Dirt Bike clubs around New England that sponsor the different dirt bike events. Very, very Busy Fellas, never the less.
I doubt they frequent this site. We have had some Vintage hare Scrambles in Connecticut, and theres a Vintage thing coming up at the Farm in Conn. on Nov. 26. Just an informal moto X. There is some more information on the "New England Dirt Bike" web site.
Myself, I retired from driving all over the Northeast to attend events, on a weekly basis. 35 years in the sport, yadayada wah wah wah... I participate in a few events and there mostly Netra rides or hare scrambles or flat track races.( KACHING $$$)
You will find much more Vintage gatherings south of here 4 sure,
Please don't despair, time is of essence.

Oh ya, one more thing
The fastest Flat track racer in the country comes from New England [8D]
And theres quite a few other real, real fast woods riders up this way too !!
Can anybody guess who !!
(And i wondered why he laps me in the senior class !!)
Raymond

Ray, I'm not looking for something every weekend, once a month would be good. If you've got anything thay would be of interest post it here and we'll see what happens. thx Dan
Happy T-Day,
I don't get on here half as much as I would like to and just read this post for the first time. I would be very interested in a get together like this and have a venue to offer. I think it would be great to have a vintage ride, but your idea of a dry meet might be something I could help out with. I am located in Lake George, N.Y.
one hour north of Albany. I own a Golf Course and the clubhouse is not used at all in the winter time. Just something to throw out there. I know that it is not real central but there is lot of lodging and such. Just an idea. Scot Smith
I never met a golf course I didn't want (like) to ride on. Wish you were a little closer.

Thanks Scot, what do you think Capitol area POGgers? Are there enuff of you to make this a practical idea?? Get together, show off your bikes, bench race, maybe some chow? Speak up now. This includes the rest of New England also. Up for a get together? [^]
I would be in for this if the timing was right. I am in Albany often, and have just started to explore the Lake George area while traveling to Burlington, Vt. I could probably drag Raymond and anyone else with me from the northeast region.

With the holidays coming up, how about something in Jan?? Any days that are better than others?, weekends are the prefered time of course.Lets keep this rolling. thx Guys Dan[^]
I will be in Canada on a 7 day snowmobile ride from Jan. 20 to 28. If we have snow locally, I am riding sleds every weekend, but would be glad to make a run west sometime.

I know with the holiday season upon us, thinking very far ahead may be a problem. If we can't put a date in Jan., how about March?? The POG meeting in Ohio is in Feb and I'm going to try to be there. And there's a run in Del in April, which leaves a gap for March. How about it????????
Well it's been an interesting month, but we're that much closer to spring, I didn't realize that this hadn't been brought back up in almost a month, so I figured I better drag it back to the top of the heap. Let's get planning. Anyone from the NE besides me going to the AMA metting in Feb?? Dan
