Title: 250 Penton Pipes
Post by: Randy Lamp on September 14, 2006, 10:00:00 AM
Good morning. Can anyone tell me what kind of pipes came originally on a 1975 250 Penton? My bike has what the previous owner called a enduro pipe. The end of it looks like an elongated pickle. The end of it looks nothing like the one on my 72 Jackpiner. My plan is to try some vintage motto cross racing so maybe a replacement pipe is in order. The one currently on the bike is kind of banged up right where it transisitons into the pickle and I don't think that is a good thing.
Was there a mx pipe originally fitted on some of these bikes, or would a new after market pipe ,if available, be a better way to go? A penton rider at a resent vintage event on Ohio had a custom pipe that he said made all the difference in the world in the low end power and overall performace of the engine. It looked like something off a more modern bike. He and or the bike were very fast!

Thank you,

Randy,
Andy at Ace pipes, which is the first listing on this sites suppliers page, builds 75 250 HS pipes that are the older style pipes. Kevin at Circle F. Exhaust hasn't built a new style "torque" pipe for the 75 250 bikes yet, but it is on his "to do list". Mike

Thanks Mike. It is good to know the original can be reproduced and that other options may be avialable.
