Title: Engine case finishes
Post by: vmx1963 on September 28, 2006, 12:02:07 PM
G'day fellas,

So far I've had pretty mixed results with paint finishes on the mangesiun KTM engine cases (mostly poor results with the paint peeling/rubbing off) and wondering if anyone has used an aquablast/polish & clear varnish finish to their cases and what was the long-term result?

I bead blast my cases and use a self etching primer before I paint.  I also use thin coats and lightly wet sand between coats.

John D. says I over do it though, lol.

I have not had any peeling probs with the PJ1 paint.  It rubs off like stock in foot wear areas eventually but not peeling.
