Title: KTM 2 ended shifter shaft for KRP Flat Tracker
Post by: 454MRW on September 29, 2006, 06:22:53 PM
I am looking for a KTM double ended shifter shaft to use for the RH shifter on my Kenny Roberts Penton Flat Tracker project. Does anyone have one, or know where I can get one, or have one made? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as they were originally set up this way. Thanks, Mike

I've got one from a 72 jackpiner that has a double end, it only sticks out of the right side by about 3/4", just enough for a shifter. Would this work? Wildman

Wildman,
I think that will work, as I was told that early 73 KTM engines had them also.
You have mail! Many thanks, Mike

Actually, any KTM engine with the knock out plug on the right case and a 14mm shifter shaft can be made a right or left side shifter.  Bultaco City!;)

Kip,
Thanks, thats great to know, although I am going for as close to stock looking as possible, and all of the KRP pictures I have seen and one in person, (Rons), have both ends visible and splined. I'm building both a 77 400 and a 77 250 engine for it so it could be possible to compete in different vintage classes with an experienced rider. (Not me). I personally don't care for garage queens that just sit around and look pretty. Mike
