Title: 72 JP Swingarm Bushings
Post by: tofriedel on October 17, 2006, 11:09:01 AM
I am about to send my frame off for repainting and decided I should replace the bushings since I gone this far. Then a problem cropped up, the swingarm is different from those shown in the parts manual, in that there is a cross tube (smaller dia.) than the bosses that the bushings fit into. See the attached photo at -

My problem, how to remove the old bushings? There is no room to drive the bushings out from the opposite side as the cross tube has the same ID as the bushings. Anyone solved this mystery?

If you're going to replace the bushings anyway, why not just destroy the old ones. It's not pretty but it works.
