Title: Removing aluminum oxidation
Post by: Steve Minor on September 25, 2001, 08:00:22 AM
Due to years of exposure, my '77 400 GS6 project Penton has crusty oxidation all over the head and "jug". A soft brass wire brush seems to work ok, but I can't get into all of the "nooks and crannys". I wondered if there's a better way? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Steve

Bead blasting works great.  Any tool or machine shop will have a bead blaster.  Similar process as sand blasting although not as harsh.

Steve if you dont have access to a bead blaster, you could use an aluminum wheel cleaner. Most parts houses carry it. Bead blasting would be best , clean it well after.
dust from the beads get in every nook and crany.
