Title: Still looking?
Post by: wade195 on November 07, 2006, 08:53:56 PM
I am relativly new POG member and not so new to here at message board. I have had a few posts looking for a Penton in most any shape but not a lot of luck. Have made a few tries but on some but lost out. I am curious how all you seem to come up with your deals? Are most from past contacts or new ones? Or beating the bushes and when you see one just going for it? Smiles. Thanks to all that have taken the time to guide me. Realy enjoy reading about you all.

Hi Doug, About 3 years ago I really believed there were no Pentons within 1000 miles of me. Then I found one 600 miles away on ebay it needed work but I didn't care. It was a Penton and it was mine. Since then thru networking and this group I found one here in Omaha and had several opportunities to buy others. Get it in your head your not going to find a pristine mount, unless you have deep pockets. Heck for me the wrenching is 1/2 of the fun.

Keep the faith and keep your eyes open.

I've managed to find a couple in my area, [the NE], you just have to keep looking, the POG site, E bay, Craigs list, local swap sheet or penny saver or what ever they call your local ad rag. Other vintage sites usually have some sort of for sale section. Or you can put a wanted ad in your local area, you'd be surprized what could pop up.

Doug,
I will most likely be offering both my 74 1/2 175 Enduro and my 76 125 MC5 for sale once they are re-assembled. Both of these bikes have the engines currently removed and have new top ends and crank seals, gaskets, and the bottom ends checked out. Prices are around $ 1500-1600. I am in Eastern Central Illinois about 15 miles South of Casey and Rte 70. Mike [email protected] 618-793-2200

Doug,
You might give Gary (he pronounces it Jerry) a call at 679-849-1961. I bought an exhaust from him recently and he left me a voice mail this morning saying that he had a "nice" Jackpiner for sale for $600. I have no idea what "nice" means, but if you are still interested, you might give it a shot.

Thank you all for the information. I got a little discouraged from the hunt. Lol. The good thing is I am meeting some great folks.
