Title: Steel tank to Fiberglass tank
Post by: rich allison on November 13, 2006, 11:50:13 AM
I'm buying a 71 six day and would like to know when they went from the steel tank to glass tank? I'm sure I can remember that my cousin had a 71 with a glass tank. Thanks

Rich;

The first CMF (glass tank models) that we had, were our '71 ISDT bikes that we got on the Isle of Man. They weren't an official model until '72.

Rich;
It is possible to have a Glass tank model that was built in 71, but as Dane mentioned all of the Glass tank models or CMF ( Chromoly Framed) bikes were sold as 72s.   The last year for the Steel tanker was 71.

Picked up a 125 six day and the frame date is Dec 71, it is a glass tank bike does this mean it would be a chrome moly frame? Bike is pretty rough but I'm going to make a rider out of it hopefully. Will need plenty of advice on this.  Thanks
