The Torsten Hallman part is correct. According to the Classic article in the back of the November issue of the American Motorcyclist, Thor stands for Torsten Hallman Original Racewear.  The article also states that Thor was originated by Lars Larsson, but the Thor website says that Torsten started the company.

Torsten Hallman Original Racewear.  RacerX had a big article on him a few years ago.  What's my prize? [:p]

Exept for Torsten Hallmans equipment, Thor is one of the heathen deities of the scandinavian mythologi. In fact he was a world saver with fantastic strength, fighting the giants of "the outher world". He was riding his wagon up in the sky and when he throw his hammer after the giants you could see the lightnings and hear the thunders. As i am quite impressed of the guy, I have even named one of my sons after him.

Mats, you may have read in another post that I had two bikes stolen.  Well, I've decided to get a guard dog to live in my barn, and I'm going to name him "THOR".  I'd love to see him get after the giants you could see the lightnings and hear the thunders [}:)]  I love it!
