Hello,
I have two 1972 175's that I purchased over the last two years or so...I've had both engines out of them, but struggle each time to get the motor back into the frame.
Are their any tricks to installing a motor in a Jackpiner...?
Such as installing from one side or the other, tilting the motor in some way to get it in, standing on one foot, etc.)
Any advice would be helpful...
Thanks

I believe I usually install the motor from the right side. I also leave the head off, stack a few washers on the cylindar studs and snug a couple of nuts up so so the cylindar won't come off. Goes in pretty good then.

I've done a '72 and '73 JP recently, and actually they went in pretty easy. I left the head on, but it would have been easier with the head off. Also, leave the side covers off so that you can more easily see the frame mounts. I put duct tape on the recently powder coated (or painted) frame to keep from scratching the new surfaces. If I remember correctly, I put the rear bolt in first and then lowered the front of the engine into position. Good luck.
