Title: Thanks to POG
Post by: ozscofield on December 12, 2006, 03:42:26 PM
Gents and ladies,
I was introduced to John Penton by Ed Youngblood at VMD in 2000 and immediately became interested in his beautiful bikes.  Retired in March and decided I now had time to pursue a Penton.
Started the process by posting on the Penton site.  It worked!  Have bought a 68 Six Day from Bob and Dot Gilman and a 69 from Donny Smith.  Kip Kern will do the restorations as that process is something way beyond my ability.
I am presently on the Board of the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation so I get to the museum in Pickerington on a regular basis.  A couple of weeks ago I spent a half hour admiring Al Born's Six Day and imagining what my bikes will look like when they are finished.
Sending a parts wish list to Al Buehner this weekend and am spending countless hours on ebay looking for things I absolutely have to have.
My wife, Ann, had never been on a motorcycle before I took her to Vegas to get married seven years ago.  She now loves riding on the back and tolerates my two wheel obsessions.  In fact, she has agreed that the Pentons should live in our music room so I can watch them while listening to Mozart.
The POG members are a very interesting lot.  I have learned much from many good people.  I continue to be amazed by your generosity in giving good advice and steering me in the right direction.
Hope to meet many of you in February at the POG meeting in OH.
Again, Thanks.

Ozzie;
Welcome to the Penton group,(family).  This is a very special group of people, and in a short time you will understand the use of the word family.   Hope we all get to meet you February 3rd at Penton Day at the AMA.
Have fun!
