Title: Herc on E bay
Post by: thrownchain on December 26, 2006, 04:09:33 PM
There is a Hercules on E bay, it's in NH, if a POGger gets it and needs transport, I can pick it up and bring it to AMA meeting in Feb, or hold it till M/O. Let me know if I can help.  thx   Dan[^]

That auction was listed twice, that could be why it was pulled.
Sure would like to put one of those Sachs 175's in my Wassell [:p]

Was it a 6 speeder or Seven Speeder ?  6 speed 175 Hercules / Sachs engines are extemely rare and parts and almost none existant.  Even from Germany.  Most GS175/6a restorations you see in Germany are actually 125 engines in the 175 frame.  GS175/7a engines will not retrofit 1975 and earlier bikes.  Completely different engine design.

The one on ebay was the "regular" looking Sachs. The fins on the jug have a different style webbing between them. You can still see it by looking under Penton completed items.

I owned a 175/7A in when I was in high school. One of my all time favorite bikes. I'd love to find one to restore. Does Speedy have parts for them?

Thanks Speedy,

I will keep my eyes open for a 175 model. Years ago the local Honda dealer sold Hercules. I remember they were only $850 way back in the day. years later, late eighties this dealer still had one in each size on the floor. Imagine the odds of finding a new one in a crate or dusty in a corner of the warehouse? My luck isn't that good.

Happy New Years All

Chris
