POG, just getting to assembling the brakes on my 74 Six Day. I'm working off a collection of parts from 3 different front hub/brake assemblies and I could be wrong but there seem to be two different sized inner springs (stubby spring/long hooks - next to caliper). One set up has a familiar heavy looking spring and one of my other assemblies, although apart, appears to have a smaller, lighter spring. Could this be true? In fact, I think the small one could be the one I originally took off the bike I'm working on. If true what are the advantages/disadvantages of using one size over the other? They're both the same length. Or....does this smaller spring go somewhere else? I'm pretty confident it came out of the brake. Thanks, Chris H.
Caliper???
O.K, "Cam", couldn't come up with the word so I went and got my manual - you know what I mean, the spring next to the "Cam" :D
Thx, Chris
Me again, now that I grabbed the manual it looks like the smaller sping goes on the outside brake arm, not inside. Correct!? Oops!
