Post by: shpclay on January 04, 2007, 10:31:17 AM
Does anyone know where to get the old high point bars that had a tall bend to them?

Watch EBay, there is a guy selling vintage steel handlebars for around $25.

thanks. I'll check it out. Wonder what bend or height they were. Just about everyone had them.

Steve,

I was watching a set last week that went for $67. I wasn't high bidder, but here is the link to the auction. Hope it works. If it doesn't, I will get the ebayer's name and email if you would like.
It was item # 250065795024

Hi Poggers, at one time Jeff Tulinius was selling bars on Ebay. They had approx 6in rise and 5 in pullback. I think his email is: [email protected]. Also looked a JC Whitney's catalogue and they list MX bars that have a high rise and are slightly flatter. In another post, someone mentioned Paul Stannards bars as being close to the orig. Penton bars but sans the knurling, now that I think, believe it was Dwight...

Hi Poggers, Fly Racing Products has Vintage Bars that I saw today, they appear to be a very good copy of Bultaco Bars with approx 5.5 rise and 5 pullback... Here is a link:

Adios!

Those are the ones. They were perfect for woods riding. They had a lot higher rise than 5 inches I believe.

Steve,
Well I only have one pair of the original OEM bars, which I would like to hold on to.
But I have two pairs of the Inter-Am alum. bars in gold, in two slightly different bends, one very close to the originals you're speaking of, and the other pair is even taller and wider.
Let me know, I'll send them your way. $30 + shipping.

Rod,
They're not the original width, they've been dewidtherized down to 31".

Hey, pullback is a tricky thing.  I have seen some bars on ebay that have enough pullback that they seem more suited for flattrack use.  Cheers.

Bob, how tall were the original bars. Pro taper has one called ATV HI.
I would like some close to the original I wouldn't want the ones that are taller. I looked up the atv hi they are 6.3 high and 3.94 pull back, Is this close

Steve,
If you are looking for something that is close to original but not exact, you might try Strictly Hodaka. The last set that I used are from the Hodaka Wombat. They worked well for me. The only down side is that they aren't knurled at the triple clamp area. Paul at Strictly Hodaka is very helpful if you email or call him. Good luck.
