Title: New Boots...?
Post by: swamp fox on January 05, 2007, 02:21:56 PM
Ok,
When Thomas and I went riding down here last month,.... remember?..65 degrees... I knew my boots were on their last leg. But when I took them off, they were dead[xx(], and I just left them in the trash can at the trailhead.
Soooo, my wife surprised me with a new pair at Chrismas. They were a little tight, so I've returned them and am searching for the best fit.
My question to all you more experienced trail riders..
Do you go for the m/x sole or the all terrain sole?

Thomas had the thought that if you were to get stuck, the a/t sole would help a little.  Not that we get stuck down here in the lowcountry.;)
 Just wondering.

Personally, I've had both and found the all terrain sole works best for me....But I guess if you don't get stuck, break down or fall, the MX sole is just as good. Unfortunately, that's not the case with me..(haha)

Hi Bobby, The THOR boots I am wearing now have the Sidi MX sole on them. I killed the original Thor soles in Marion Ill.I will say that the mx soles worked real good on the Reunion ride in M.O.I just put both feet down and used them as SKIS through that mud.I have never seen such slick mud,I thought slick mud was orange!!![:p]

TC,
I couldn't remember what you had, but she gave me a set of Thor also. I had one foot that was a little to tight. I had tried on a set of Alpinestars about a week after we went in the woods, but being so close to Christmas, I didn't want to spend the money on me. Glad I waited. Now to try on everything!

Steve,
I did pretty good for not being on my bike for a while, but you never know what's around the corner.[B)] I'm thinkin' the a/t sole is going to be the way to go.

Thanks Guys
