Title: Tank Felt
Post by: davidson on January 15, 2007, 12:14:29 AM

Hi guys, I'm asking if someone will help with a small problem.
 I'm trying to restore a 1976 125 GS6 that was almost a basket case.
It's my first Penton and I see in my parts book that a piece of
felt goes under the gas tank but the location is not clear. Does it
go toward the front, middle or back? My bike has the breather frame
and the tank is the enduro style. If anyone can help it would be
 appreciated very much.

James,
You have two pieces that fit under the tank.  One is near the front and is folded in a U shape the other is more flat and fit on the back part of the tank.  Al Buehner (look under suppliers) I believes has some of this material.  I hope this helps.

Thanks Ron, Al only sent me one , so I'll have to get back

James on my GS6 I have only one felt. It goes on the under side of the tank, the end that is up by the steering head. That is what my 76 and 77 GS6 has. If you need some photos's email me and I will send you some. Later Gary Ellis

Gary is correct and just put some thin rubber padding under the back to keep it from rubbing a hole in the tank.  I say put it on the front and back...just because I have thin felt for the back...
