Does anybody have a bearing cage for a 74 to 78 swingarm? If so can you bring it to the POG meeting? I am making the inner sleeves and nuts for these swing arm and will try to get the bearings from my local bearing house. Thanks for any help. Gary Ellis
Gary,
The bearing is an HK 2030. Will double check on the # but they should not be hard to find.

The needle bearing number that Jon McLean gave me a while back was 3040. Mike

John D is right...HK 2030. Sorry Mike, I shot you a note awhile back from memory and remembered it wrong, meant to follow up. Took a buggered up one to the local bearing house and gave them this number, $8 off the shelf.
Gary, if you are machining up some inner sleeves, please, please make up a half dozen or more and keep material and specs on hand for more later. Hardened steel preferred. As you know, impossible to find and most are worn out/pitted, so plenty of demand.

I may be needing a couple also soon. I lucked out on my 175 after having to cut off the end of the swingarm bolt to remove the swingarm from the frame after it unscrewed from the frame but wouldn't drive out any farther. The cut off bolt was able to be removed on my press and the sleeve is still in usuable shape, but I fear that my 74 1/2 250 and one of my 78 MX-6's will not be so easy as the bolt won't even hardly turn yet. Wanted to bring this up, I will have these finished this week. They are heat treated with metric threads for stock swingarm nuts. Can sell with or without roller bearings. Will work on making the nuts next. Also I am make up some swingarm bolts that fit inside of this tube. Al is all out,so I will let everyone know when I get these finished. Will know final price on the sleeves this week when I get them finished. Later Gary
New swingarm tube/sleeves, hardened! At last. Good job Gary. Will need one as long as it's cheaper than an Italian-made repro exhaust pipe.

I am bring this back up. I just tracked down 2, 10inch 14mm reamers these reamers are very hard to get. I had to have them made up. I am making the nuts for the ends also, not like the OEM ones these will be a square head. So you can get a better hold on the nut with a wrench. I will be making the wrenches to fit the nuts also. Tubs ar hardened steel. Keep in mind that tooling, time and material is not cheep. Should have the nuts finished this week. Email me if you need some and I will let you known the cost when all are finished. I do not know how to post photos so I can send some photos with your emails. Later Gary
