Title: hub color: original vs custom
Post by: sachsmx on March 06, 2007, 03:16:12 PM
I am finally getting around to assembling my 1980 KTM 420 MC80. I am starting on the wheels and have the hubs and brake backing plates primed and ready for paint. I am considering painting them the same color orange as the frame to make the bike stand out instead of the original silver color. What are your opinions?
I would like the bike to end up looking as good or better than some of the more tasteful custom painted 490 Maicos I have seen. I am not going radical, just different [8]. Also, I am having some of the aluminum bits polished a little such as the swingarm, chain guides, brake petal, etc. It won't be a mirror polish, just a bright finish to match the original rims. Most everything else on the bike will be stock, including the graphics.

As you can see from the home page photo, you can do pretty much anything you want, it's your bike.
