Well, new to me.
Just picked up a 1974 250 Hare Scramble and need some swing arm removal advive. I was able to loosen the bolt and it appears to be backed out of the threads but I am not able to move it beyond that point. The bolt and bushings turn freely. Tried banging it out with a large screw driver and hammer. Ready to get out the sledge hammer!
I've ordered a 12mm allen socket to try and use my air wrench but it will take a few days to get it.
Any ideas?

The swingarm bolt goes through a sleeve in the swingarm and that area seizes with the bolt. You can try heating the outside of the housing that the bolt runs through but more than likely you will have to spread the frame a small amount and cut the head of the bolt off. You can then remove the swingarm and use a press or possibly beat the bolt out with a hammer and punch. Not much fun, bbe through this several times. Maybe someone else has something that works better. Before you cut the head of the bolt off, make sure you have loosened it far enough that it is free of the frame on the threaded side.

Rocket's right...and that's exactly what I had to do on my Hare Scrambler. I had to spread the frame enough to get a grinder in to cut off the allen head. Then heat and big mallet did the rest. You will also have a really hard time with the needle bearings. Following POG advice i used a die grinder to open a groove in the outer race and peened it over into itself until the race collapsed enough to remove. The needle bearings are availible on Ebay.

I laid the frame of my 74.5 175 Enduro on its side and used a small portable type floor jack and a couple soft boards to slightly spread the frame apart once the threads were clear, and cut the head off the bolt with a sawzall. I thought that the bolt would be very hard and take a lot of effort to cut through, but the sawzall cut it through in just a few seconds without damaging the frame or swingarm. Once I removed the swingarm from the frame the axle bolt was easily removed in my press and the pivot tube caps came off fairly easy. I was surprised to find that the tube itself was not damaged and the bearings were still in very usable condition once cleaned and greased. I think I was very lucky. Have had some success with an air chisel/hammer with an attachment cut to match approximate bolt size.After a dose of pb blaster and a few easy attempts I put some weight on it and it started moving(maybe it wasn't seized horribly but this worked when a BIG ball pee did not.)I had figured on cutting the bolt out but this saved me the trouble-just be careful not to bend the frame and keep constant pressure on the air hammer.
