Title: Kenny Roberts Pipe
Post by: firstturn on July 19, 2007, 06:01:25 PM
OK for all you guys that want a replica of the original KRP pipe I talked with Kevin a Circle F today and he will start on them after Mid Ohio.  Price will be $150.00 plus shipping unless there is some surprise in building the jig.  I have one sold so either let me know here, email me or call me and let me know you want one.  Thanks.

Any chance that it is not too late to get on the list to buy a pipe ??  I'm slowly rebuilding a '75 250 ktm for trail use. I would greatly appreciate a reasonable quiet pipe that maintains good low and midrange grunt.
Much thanks for any help or ideas,
dean

Dean,
Bear in mind that the KRP pipe discussed in this topic is a down pipe for a Kenny Roberts Flat track bike. you might try Andy at Ace Pipes for a reproduction stock up style pipe. Mike

Thanks Gents....Good information.....a down pipe might not last too long in My application....old grown over logging roads/trails and such....more like kindergarten trials riding, but still fun. Twenty years ago, I put lots of hard logging road miles on this same bike.  Thats why when it came right down to it, I couldn`t bear to part with it, even though its beat pretty bad.  I`m retirement age now, and not QUITE so much in a hurry...not to menton that I don`t heal as fast as I used to.
Is there any good answer to getting a better lite on this puppy??
later,
dean

Thanks for the heads up and the effort Ron on getting this pipe built for us . It looks like it weights half of  what  the standard pipe weights.
Now did these KR bikes all have a rear disk and the shifter on the right side ??

Raymond,
I believe the bikes that were sold complete were in this configuration.  Remember there were some frame only sales and Class C is bring what you build.

So thats what the rest of the bike looks like [:p],     Thanks michael for sharing that photo with us...
I was just curious how  the rear quarter and tank scheme fell together.   And LT has the rear quarter available ta boot. Thats Even Better news!
Tom, I am just gathering the bits and pieces at this point. Hopefully this fall and winter I can get it all together. And so far, I think its not gonna weigh much more than 210 lbs...

Hi Ray! Glad to hear the Penton creative juices are flowing once again. I trial fitted my KRP seatbase to a 76 mc5 frame and it looks like it will fit....the KRP seat tapers towards the front of the base...if you trim the base approx 5 in. the seatbase clears the rails, and allows the use of the stock MC5 tank, you can also make a cutout for the tang that hangs off of the rear of the tank in the seat base. I also trial fitted to a 78 frame and in appears to fit as well. The High Breather 75 frame is a bit too wide etc....

Can't imagine how pretty a Yellow custom MC5 flatracker would look, complete with white/black checkers on the tank and base.[:p]

I finally got over to Houston to pick up my KRP ( Kenny Roberts Penton) bike and the new pipe(s).  Kevin does such nice work.  If anyone is interested in a pipe as has been discussed here for several years contact kevin @ Circle F Pipes.

Bob,
I will get intouch with you on the pipe I had made for you.

You need to go to his web site and either email him or call for ordering a Kenny Roberts Penton pipe.

http://www.circlefexhaust.com/

As far as the Woodsman/Wassell I have all the parts including a brand new tank and better frame....the old frame was too rusty and had a lot of problems.  Thanks for asking.
