Title: Airbox's
Post by: phats on August 08, 2007, 05:40:39 PM
Iv'e recently purchesed a 2nd hand airbox for my 79' GS 250, although it seems the right shape, the bolt holes don't line up correctly, is it the same airbox for the 78 & 80 models ?
Thanks

The 1978 MC5 and the early 1979 MX-6, which share the same frame starting with serial number 855 uses an air box that mounts differently than any other models. There is a horizontal frame brace behind the airbox that won't allow the later model air box to fit into the frame. If you send me pics of your bike with the frame number, and the airbox you have, I can identify them for you. If the airbox has a side access to the air filter, it is the 78 MC5-79 MX-6 airbox. The standard production 1979 and 1980 model only has a top access to the filter. [email protected] Mike
