Title: Seat Base?
Post by: imported_n/a on August 23, 2007, 10:00:44 PM
POG, I've come across at least 3 suppliers who sell plastic seat bases. Has anyone used one and how well did it turn out? Are they a good fit? Does glue stick well? Are they too flexible? etc.?

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,
I used a seat base from DC Plastic around $55.00 on ebay.
It turned out nice, but it is black plastic.
Also no predrilled holes, so you'll have to figure that out yourself.
I used larger diameter pop-rivets to install all the mounting brackets (no way to hold the nuts after the cover is on) and #2 sheet metal screws with washers to install the cover. Send me your email address and I'll send you a pic of the finished bike.
My emaill is [email protected]

I'm looking for a 72 Six Day seat base....My original is badly cracked and pretty brittle and Al B. is out of stock.

Can you tell me the three suppliers you found?

Ron, you have email. I'd love to see the picture!!  Hey Steve, As Ron W. said, DC Plastics has one they sell on ebay for 49.95. Also under Suppliers on this site check Terry Everetts //www.pentonmotorcycles.com, he has them for sale as well. I think the 3rd place I saw them was Barry Higgins H&H before it became KTM World. That is also listed under Suppliers here on the POG site. I checked KTM World yesterday and couldn't find one though. Hope this helps! Al B.'s fiberglass base looks great and I'd rather go with that one but as you say he's out of stock right now.
