Title: 74/75 400 Engine Cases Wanted
Post by: adrian_goold on August 26, 2007, 03:59:47 AM
Hello,

Adrian here from downunder. I currently have a 74 400 that i am racing
here in australia. The motor i have is going strong for motocross. i
have raced it a couple of times on dirt track and goes well, but have
methonol Cr's keeping with me. Time has come to make a dedicated dirt
track motor and do some of carl's porting mods for added power, will be
taking it to the Aussie vintage dirtrack nationals.
I came across another motor down this way, but the cases are not the
best, very beaten up in fact. So i am looking for a set of cases to use
as a starting point. I understand that the postage will be a bit, but
that isn't a problem.
Can anyone help?

Sorry, I cant help you with the cases, but I can offer some advise.  Keep an eye on your lower rod bearing.  We ported one very radical back in the 70's and it ran very well...but not very long!  Lets just say I was looking for cases also. Thats the weak link of that motor.  Maybe the new rod kits are better??
Good Luck
Mike
