Title: Bing 53 Question
Post by: Steve Minor on September 08, 2007, 10:43:13 AM
I took apart my Bing...it's a 53 I think (1/27/19 stamped on the body...1972 Six Day) and it seems to have a two piece needle? Or maybe it broke somehow... Plus the float needle doesn't hang off the float arm by a wire clip like normal, but rather slips in the hole and has a build in ball/spring check valve mechanism...I gather this is the original carb for this 72 Six Day....Any old Bing pros out there?

Any advice is appreciated.

...........never heard of or seen a two piece slide needle, photo?? As for the float needle, the type you describe has been used on several applications, the good one is spring loaded at the ball and has a viton tip the bad ones are not spring loaded...........the best is the clip to the float rubber (viton) tip spring type.........

I'll try to get a pic but it might be difficult to zoom in that tight. As far as the float needle, I'll call Bing on Monday and get a replacement ordered.....plus I'll ask them about a new needle.
