POG friends,
Due to the generosity of POG-member Rich Allison, we as a group have been provided long-term loan of a stack of 8mm & Super8 mm home-movies, which feature vintage off-road motorcycle racing, circa late 60's to early 70's.
In keeping with POG's overall mission of preserving the memories of this era, which coincide quite fortunately with the era of Penton motorcycle production, we wish to process these old movies into a format, which will permit editing, supplementing of a soundtrack, and of course, preservation.
The first step in this process would obviously seem to be viewing and/or copying of the material. Having no prior experience with this process, I can only presume that a old-style home-movie film projector will be needed as part of whatever process is to be performed.
With that being said, POG is soliciting you, our members, for a loan, donation, or sale of one of these projectors. Also, if anyone happens to have any prior knowledge and/or experience with transfer of home movies to digital video, please contact us.
We are living through a really interesting experience right now. Think about it: 40 years ago, Penton motorcycles came on the scene. They were purchased, ridden, raced, and enjoyed. And then, they eventually passed. New bikes were continually introduced, our old Pentons became tired and/or worn out, and we either put 'em away, or sold them.
But now, 40 YEARS LATER, we're getting to do it all again! Think about it! It's incredible, isn't it? How many times does that happen in life? And, how lucky are we to be a part of it? My point is, we've got to make the best of this second time around, while it's here. Time is, as always, passing by at a frightfully fast pace. The efforts we make right now, are setting the standard for years to come. The bikes we are rebuilding, the events we are hosting and participating in, the racing we are doing, IS THE SECOND ERA OF PENTON MOTORCYCLES.
So, help us to make yet another effort in generating information, which will become record, and history, involving our special sport, and very special motorcycles.

Ted, you are another within the members fo the POG, that is on a quest....
The media 8mm/super8 can be converted to VHS or to DVD...
Locally, I took and old s-8 to be coverted to VHS, the costs were minimal. I did not edit it.
These archives that you describe, apparently have some value, this is a Standard of Values that you are proposing.
The technology is there, and can be found locally, thru a media specialist.
The costs: tbd
The value: priceless,
Thanks, Penton Bro, for your efforts
