Title: Last Call for the ISDT Reunion Ride 2007
Post by: pketchum on October 05, 2007, 09:01:48 AM
I spoke tonight with Lynn Burton who's spearheading many of the efforts made by the Arkansas Dirt Riders in hosting the ISDTRR 2007 in New Blaine, Arkansas on Oct. 27,28th.

A friend of mine had asked what the "drop dead" date was for entering the event. He's having difficulty with his 89 yr. old mother and may have to move her into a nursing home. Therefore, his schedule is quite complex but his desire to ride with is is commendable.

Lynn replied, "We can take 'em up until 10pm on Friday evening. After that we won't have anyone to register him. We don't have the manpower available to register anyone on Saturday morning." So, there you have it - straight from the "Bull of the Woods" himself.

I hope this helps those of you who are still sitting on the fence
regarding this 2-day ride. Although, I can't believe anyone in their
right mind would even consider NOT running this event!

Phil, I guess a 3000 mile road trip puts me out of the equation,  Now does anyone know where next years event is going to be ??
Its never to early to start planning [8D]

How about closer to the left (West) coast! It was great to be there
last year... will miss it this year.

I heard a rumor that it will be a tad closer the next 2 years.  BUT , I ain't telling where.  But, where is there anyplace in the continental USA that it would be a 3000 mile road trip to Ark ?  Team up and come.  There are several VINDURO members coming from the left coast. S.Ca. and N. Ca. . This is a once a year event and as you already know it is something not to be missed.
IMO,
Dwight

PS: it is only 2670.88 miles from Jackson, MS to Bellingham Wa.  That is the furtherest point in the Continental USA from Jackson, MS.  Russelville Ark. would be several hundred miles closer.

I guess I have more fun than people, I've spent 11 weekends on the road this summer and have enjoyed every Enduro, motocross, Hare scramble and flat track race and a bunch of other stuff I've participated in.
My  bikes are trashed, my  wallets well er... you know, and my family really wonders where does it all end.

I cant wait till next season...

Just my thoughts but I would like to see longer event.  I will be on the road about 14 hours one way to ride only 4 hours in 2 days.  Seems short on enjoyment time to me.  Ted

I too would like a bit longer event, but at 12mph average even 60 miles will be a 5 hr day and almost 3 hrs on Sunday with the final MX test. I wouldn't mind seeing 70+ miles on saturday and about 45miles on Sunday with the test.
Don't forget the banquet on Saturday evening also.

12mph , leaves lots of chit chat time at the checkpoints.  This is as much a social event as it is a riding event.

Last years ISDTRR had an acceleration/braking test and 2 timed sections, so I would assume that this one would be the same. The one lap timed MX part of the special test was ommitted because of time restraints due to the excessive rain before the actual event. Mike

SOCIAL EVENT!  I didn't think you were very SOCIAL to me in the final MX last year, I had hoped you might hang with the rest of us, but no, you had to run off and play on your own:)

Do you have a horn on your bike this year?

I talked with Jack Penton earlier today, he was busy running to Buehner's to get some parts for the bikes that his sons are going to ride at the ISDTRR.  That is really neat, Alan Buehner is at the Barber event, and Dale Buehner is home selling Jack Penton parts for his bikes:D

Interesting thing about it all, Jack is as happy as can be, looking forward to riding with his sons and his friends and working on his Pentons.

Life is good,
