2008 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

2008 Marque of the Year

In the summer of 1958, the first Triumph Bonnevilles (1959 models) began rolling off the assembly line in Meriden, England. Fifty years later, to mark the birth of that iconic model, as well as all the other history, fun, excitement and beautiful motorcycles Triumph has produced since it was founded in 1902, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is honoring Triumph as VMD Marque of the Year.

The Classic Club for 2008 is the North American Laverda Owners Club, which will have a special display and activities during VMD.

July 25-27, 2008
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

It's the biggest celebration of vintage motorcycles on the continent. And old bikes are just the beginning. From North America's largest motorcycle swap meet, to vintage racing, to new-bike demo rides, to auctions and bike shows, there's something at VMD for anyone who loves motorcycles. Just ask any of the tens of thousands of people who make VMD a part of their summer every year.

The 2008 version of VMD takes place July 25-27 on the park-like grounds of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course near Lexington, Ohio. This year, VMD honors one of the most popular and enduring brands in motorcycling by naming Triumph as Marque of the Year. There will be special displays of the British bikes and other activities.

Plus, all the traditional elements of VMD will be back as the event grows bigger every year. Expect three bike shows, the annual Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum Auction, North America's largest motorcycle swap meet, demo rides of new bikes, stunt shows, and a full slate of American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association action, including road racing, motocross, flat-track and trials.

Also new this year will be a special display of pre-1980 cafe racers. If you would like to bring your cafe racer to VMD and participate in this display, send an e-mail to Will Stoner at the AMA or call (614) 856-1900, ext. 1227.

Watch this space for more details on special events coming to 2008 VMD and the designation of the Grand Marshal.

That was a great exhibit HD had this year.  I couldn't believe all the beutiful Flat track and road racers that Jay Springsteen had the privelage to race.
Funny thing though, they said Willie G would be there, but I never heard if he was or not ??  I know Springsteen was @ the FT race on Friday and I believe on the starting grid of the "world of Champions"  moto cross race on Saturday.  But was Willie there??

Hello all.  In answer to the question was Willie G. there, the answer is Yes! I saw him in the swap meet eyeballing parts just like everybody else.   Hank
