Hi Guys,
The threads on the side of my 175 crank that hold the primary drive gear on are messed up and I'd like to chase them before putting the engine back together. The shop manual says its a 14mm. I need to know if it's an M14 x 1.5mm or an M14 x 2mm. It is a silver model (late 74) engine with the larger crank.
Thanks
Chris
Chris I have a 1973 JP crank here on the bench and its measures
M14 X 1.5mm. I'm not sure about the later crank like you have.

Hi Raymond,
Thanks very much for that info. I don't have a thread gage...not that it would even work as the threads are mushed. I placed an order with Mcmaster-Carr for the die today.
Your located in Maine right? Do you ever ride in CT? I am just outside of Hartford.
Chris
Chris, matter of fact I do. The local dirt bike club has a Vintage Friendly Hare scramble every fall @ a farm in Soemers Conn. pretty good time, other than the late model bikes want to run you off the trail [8D] (ya where racing).
Every July in Mid conn. they have a big vintage moto cross race.
I think the Nut meg riders have something to do with the Vintge stuff ??

Ya thats the place, Central Village. They got a wicked cool Vintage track there, and a whole bunch of trail riding too.
Thanks Merlin, someday I'll remember all these races, tracks, towns and the clubs that sponsor the race to!! Just as long as they dont change the dates like they did @ Southwick for 2008.:D
Chris, I live near Sebago lake Maine. About 25 miles NE of Porkland Me. My friends and I Usually do 10 rides a season from my yard on Sunday. Anywhere from 5 to 20 fast riders, 75 to 100 miles. Great times are always had by all. (KTM's ONLY ;))
