One of the last pictures that Maurizio posted on that thread, has something "wrong" with it. What is it?

Paul,
Are you talking about the lay down shocks?

How about that the rear brake linkage is on the outside of the frame on the left side?

The cylinder head doesn't match any of the other pictures. It is also shaved on left top side for a high pipe. Ted
The low front fender, the huge gas tank and the exhaust pipe is routed differently (outside) than the 50 cc model. I'd say it wasent a 50cc model.

The only obvious thing that I noticed, was the Motoplat coil. The coil that is on the machine, wasn't made until at least 1982.
As far as the top end of the engine goes, Sigi Stuhlberger, KTM's race machine builder, had the capability to do casting and I'm pretty sure that he would have built this one.
The fender thing was fairly normal at that time.

Hi Dandk,
the ktm 50 in the pics is the official bike of Arnaldo Farioli.
The owner Arnaldo Farioli (very famous italian rider and ktm importer for Italy) replaced the ignition afterwards.
The bike is in the Arnaldo Farioli's garage now in the city of Bergamo (near Milan).
Ciao, Maurizio
