Thomas how long do you need? Do you have an old one? Email me or call me. 217 260 0237 Later Gary
Gary,
It appears to be about 25" end to end. Part of it is still in the woods. From what I see in my manual it looks like the rod is threaded on both ends and threaded into a plate that hooks to the brake pedal.Mine is welded into the plate on this end.
Plate#54.07.070.000
brake rod cpl.#1.54.03.070.000
brake rod # 54.03.070.000
Hope this helps! Thanks Gary!!

Thomas,
All of the ones I am familiar with are welded to the plate that hooks into the brake pedal. Mike

Hi Mike,
Yes, mine is welded also. Gary is sending me one out. I have a Carle crank chain guide and it snapped at the hub. The hub spun and caught under the shock and shattered in two pieces! The brake rod caught and broke the tip off.My big brother Ron tells me I can't ride these vintage bikes like a modern bike.It is just so much fun running with the new bikes on a bike that is over 30 yrs old.The down side is when they brake like this.[^]Thanks for looking out for me Mike!!

It sounds like the brake rod is by far the least of your problems! I hope It never happens to me, but I don't ride 'em that hard. I have considered converting a couple of my MC5's to the 1979-81 style brake anchor rod that attaches to the frame and provides a full floating rear brake for better braking control over rough stuff. Thomas,
I understand , we rode a 2 day dual sport 2 weekends ago ( about 140 mile for me ) with Rick Grant and Larry Volenec. I was on my trusty 73 Six-Day ( with a rebuild 125 A /5 engine ) and Rick and Larry were riding some orange and black off brand .....400+ 4T KTM? Larry was on a 250 2t orange and black (Must be the effect of the dark side of the force!!!!!! )[:p].

We didn't run into a lot of endless whoops so i was able to stay with the guys. It was a hoot!. The little Penton drew a lot of attention from the dual sport crowd. Larry and Rick were looking for softer seats on day 2 ( the monkey butt strikes again!!!!!!!! ). But for me it was just 2 great days on trails in the woods with friends .
Love the nice seat on my old Penton and I could touch the ground when turning around , no laughin tricycle tumbles when turning around on a single track or stopping on uneven ground chuckle chuckle!!!!!

Hi John, With the looks of those tall pines it appears you are in my neck of the woods!!I can relate with people coming up and looking at the Penton!! it happens all the time which is half the fun.I rode in Charleston super bowl day and I would have thought nobody would be there but the woods were full! While unloaging guys were coming up and going around the Penton just eyeing the ole beast! Ha, and I love also I can touch the ground also!!:D

Yesiree,
I can testify about Thomas' speed on the old bike. He'll sneak up on ya, and if you even bobble once, zoom-zoom. He was a little bummed about not even getting out of the parking lot the other day. That left two of us to ride, and he told us to go on without him. We rode about 10 mi and felt guilty leaving him there with all the beer. ;)
We did get to the Big Buck GNCC the next day to see some of those orange and black siblings fly.[8D]

Raymond,
Your right I smiled all day both days chuckle chuckle.
Since 2003 I have not been able to ride much , the 2007 RR 2days,last month 1 day on a XR 600 with Rick in Tallahassee and this 2 day dual sport ride.
Thats my total ride time in 4 years LOL so i was all smiles. It was nice to ride the little bike on the trails with Rick and Larry . A flash back to the early 70's when we did that every weekend . The trails were good , not all hooped out by modern bikes, some water but passable and the 125 ran like new. best ride I have had in 6 years.[8D]
