For $4000, I'm selling my restored 1978 KTM 400 MC5 to help toward my daughter's college expenses. I'll deliver up to 100 miles from Lynchburg, VA. at no charge. Please serious inquiries only. The bike will be on Ebay if no POG takers soon. Thanks.
Know the feeling, have a daughter headed to college too. I'd sell my '77 400 for that price and throw in a '75 Mint 400 too.
Not holding my breath though, so looks like my daughter's off to the lumber mill by day and community college by night. Good luck with it.
I knew that the price would appear steep compared to other similar year and size bikes. I figure that the like new condition and the number of new / NOS parts would make the difference. I'll eventually place it on Ebay, someone from another country that has a strong currency compared to ours will jump on it. Thats my hope at least. Otherwise, it will continue to reside in my bedroom (I'm already divorced).
If someone can help a dummy like me understand how to place pictures in this posting, I'd attach them for everyone to see the bike. Thanks.
Bike is for sale on Ebay starting 8PM PT. The item number is 200225199068. Check out the pictures. :)
Very nice bike, nothing overlooked it appears. Bet it cost a Mint (or two) to repalce all those parts and I'm guessing Al B sends you a Christmas card every year.
Al B. was very helpful in having most of the parts I needed and he even had a new seat cover made to fit the later Penton's / early KTM's. I also thank Tom Brosius, Kip Kern, Barry Higgins, Forest Stahl and Rob at OZKTM for their technical help, machine shop services and parts.
Its been fun rebuilding the bike, but next time, I'm just going to buy an old beater and ride the dang wheels off of it.
The bike is sold! [8D]
