Title: Berkshire sprocket sizes?
Post by: crash carden on May 24, 2008, 11:47:28 PM
Hello, I am getting ready to buy new front and rear sprockets for my 1973 Penton Berkshire, and I will be riding it as an enduro bike. So what would be a good set up for sprocket sizes? Thanks for any help,Crash Carden Go Penton [8D]

No one's answered so ill take a shot Crash. Stock was 13 / 54. The enduro kit came with a new Reynolds chain and a 57 as I remember.
My 72 100 was geared that way. With the 57 its good unless you hit a lot of steep hills. For slower going or a lot of steep hills i would go bigger in the back. How much bigger depends on the hills and how you ride.
What sprockets do you have now? A 14 front will last longer than the 13 just pick the right rear size to give you the approximate gearing.
 Hope this is some help.
