Title: Valve return spring for 35MM Ceriani forks
Post by: john durrill on August 12, 2008, 12:38:50 PM
Does anyone have the rebound springs for a 200 mm set of 35 mm Ceriani forks they can part with?
Al B. had everything but the springs to rebuild a set we a acquired. The forks had 1/2 a cup of water in them for some length ? of time  . Most of the damping bits are shot. Penton part # 1.622.069
 Thanks for any help.

John, do you know the length, OD, and wire diameter of the rebound springs? I have some damper rod assemblies for various length Cerianis laying around and may have something that will fit for the cost of postage.

Sachsmx,
The wire size is .119 and the overall length is 1.138 about 3 and 1/4 coils in that length.
The damping rod on one side is pitted  and the chrome gone is some spots. I was thinking on glass beading it and filling in the pits with brass, then spinning it in the lathe and dressing the brass down to size. Ever tried that with a damping rod? the bushings are aluminum so the brass would be harder.
The RR is coming up and we are limited in the time we have to get the forks up and tested on the bike.
Thanks for the help and any input.

Mark,
we remeasure the spring and found the od is a little different top to bottom .
Wire size is .119 inches length is 1.140 inches od on one end is 1.098
the other end od is 1.140 .
May be from 30 years of use but anything close should work.
 Thank you,

Folks here is a picture with the measurements of the dampers for both the 6+inch 74 type 35 mm and the 7 inch 200 mm, 35mm forks.

Does anyone have a dampener and rebound spring they can part with?
I could try brazing up the pitted area on the damaged dampener and turn it down to the original size but we don't know how long this fix would last. They were chromed originally.
Any and all help with this will be greatly appreciated chuckle chuckle!!!
This is the last big hurdle for my Zink Ranch RR bike.
