Title: yellowing blue tank
Post by: Mike Berrington on August 12, 2008, 10:29:26 PM
The tank on my 73 Jackpiner has yellowed with age.  It is still the correct blue where the tank strap was and under the decals,  (I just removed).  I can get very nice gloss out of the gel coat by buffing with 2 step buffing compounds, but they do not seem to effect the yellowing.
My question, is there any way to buff and/or wet sand through the yellowing with out getting into the glass fiber?  I would like to keep the original gel coat and will live with the discoloration if there is not a proven method to removing the yellowing.
