For those of you with a sharp eye, there is something very unusual on the Steel Tanker on the homepage photo....any guesses....

Bill and Karen, as always, great job with the pictures, Thank you.

You mean besides the D cylinder, the pipe, the KTM kickstarter, and the black hubs? Mike

Do I detect a second, matching air filter on the opposite side where the up pipe would have been?!

I was gonna say the pipe and the kickstarter. I missed the D cylinder, Mike but I think you got the big item, Chris.

Chris gets the gold star, but there sure are a lot of interesting items on this machine.  Hopefully a person who knows all about that second air cleaner, and a good bit about this machine, will soon chime in and give some info on it and its owner.

Hi Guys,

Bruce is a close friend so I'll try to answer most of the questions about the bike.  Bruce was an early Penton/Husky dealer and is still a hardcore Penton/Husky collector.  His shop was in Stanton, MI, which is between Lansing and Grand Rapids, and his primary interest was motocross.  The bike in question is his reproduction of his favorite steel tanker that he had built back in the day.  Along the way he thought he would also add a few more upgrades such as the D cylinder and black hubs.  I believe he had the Bilstein shocks and the rims laying around the shop as well.

The pipe is actually the original Penton accessory pipe he had on his bike back then.  And the double sided air cleaner is a reproduction of his original...Bruce didn't like the large, open void left on the right side of the bike when he put on the down pipe, so he cut and welded 2 air cleaner bells together.

Also, we're in the process of getting Bruce's tank painted so I loaned him an NOS tank...the tank still has the original tape over the petcock threads so we elected not to remove the tape to hook up the petcocks and lines.

If there are any other questions about the bike, I would be happy to talk to Bruce and post the answers for you.

Kent
