Title: Gas Tank on eBay - question
Post by: tooclose racing on November 01, 2008, 10:27:29 AM
There is a later model (the stickers suggest 76 or 77?) MX tank on eBay.  Were all 1.8 gal. MX tanks created equal and will this fit on a 125 CMF?  I want to use this tank as my "race day" tank on my 72 125 SD - my toaster tank has such a great paint/decal finish that I don't want to ruin it.  The tank on eBay (item # 140277554717) looks like it would do the trick.

Thanks for a reply....[8D]

The MC5 tanks have a different shape at the rear of the tunnel without sufficient cutout to accomodate the backbone of the '73-'75 CMF frames. Tried a '76 250 MC5 tank on a '73 once and it sat several inches too high where it met the seat, not good.

Thanks....your input AND the fact that I got completely distracted yesterday afternoon/evening and never placed a bid means that...hmmm...I wasn't supposed to buy that tank!

Again..thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind going forward.

Not that it matters now but that tank is a standard MX tank with later model decals on it. It is not an MC5 tank

Thanks, Dennis...I thought it looked an awful lot like the 1.8!

But now I AM mad that I didn't bid. It went for $105 bucks. [:I]

The good ones go for a whole lot more - but I'll keep my eyes open.
