Folks,
We stumbled across some information that if used would reduce the DB
note on any pipe.
I would like to change the stinger placement and knock off some noise on my 175 pipe. With 6 or more disks installed it gets into the low to mid 90's in db.
We saw an article that mentioned this anomaly and asked around. Found someone who helped with a vintage bike that is using this now and it does work. It involves cutting the stinger off at the rear cone and sliding it in a distance. Then re-welding it. The farther it can be moved in the less noise is produced. One spot needs to be avoided. The mid point of the baffle cone.

Does some one know the ID and length on a 72-75 Piner and CMF Six-Day pipe?
Is it the same as the kit that Al sells for exhaust repair?
We will probably have to play with the Trapps length and will loose some of its tune ability after the change. But I keep the spark arrester and the muffling from the glass packing of the Trapp.
If we can get the stock stinger info we can have all the pieces needed before we cut the pipe and know we wont end up in the null at mid point of the baffle cone .
