Title: Riding areas in Northern Florida
Post by: skiracer on January 04, 2009, 08:06:00 AM
Does anyone know of some good riding areas in Northern Florida?  I am going to be in the Williston area for Feb. and March and would like to get some riding in.

Thanks, James

James,
The Ocala National  Forest has a lot of trails and is close to Williston.
A street legal bike is a big plus here in Florida. We have our Pentons titled and tagged . Lets us go on any road or trail with no hassles from the law.

There is another area called Croom near Gainsville . Google it and you should get any info needed.

Hey John,
Thanks for the info.  That is all great news since my bike already has a NY tag on it.  Interested in riding together sometime next month?  There is a vintage MX about an hour north also, right?  Thanks again.  James

James,
Merlin and some of the group is planning on a day at the local MX track in March. We have a Dual Sport 2 day ride on the last weekend. March 28/29.
It should be a good ride if you can make it. 60 to 100 + miles each day and if it stays dry like it is now very little road. Mostly 2 track with a little single thrown in.
Its a Dixie Dual Sport ride. You would have to join DDS and pre regester. ( http://www.dixiedualsport.com/home.html )
I think registration starts on Feb 5th.
Your bike is already Street legal so as long as it has the Stock silencer or better you should pass tec. inspection. It was a hoot last year, you would have enjoy it. Rick Grant and Larry Volenec will most likely ride both days also.
We are in the middle of restoring ( installing new forks , making new  steering head race cup holders  , reed kit install, reinforcing swing arm etc..... ) a bike so my ride time is limited. We have 2 grandsons we look after also , they have priority over everything chuckle chuckle . That limits my playing. I will try and get a day free when you are close and we could do some riding. I would enjoy that a lot.
