Title: Will Stoner Swapmeet Penton weekend
Post by: Paul Danik on January 26, 2009, 10:57:04 AM
The day after the Penton Day meeting at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, Will Stoner is putting on a swapmeet at the Ashland County Fairgrounds. Will has graciously decided to Honor the Penton Family and motorcycle at this event as a continuation of the Penton/POG 40/10 Anniversary Celebration. We hope to Pentonize the event and truly appreciate Will's gesture. John and Jack Penton will be joining us for this event.  Below is Will's press release on the event.

Se ya there, Paul

Classic Swap Meet at Ashland County Fairgrounds February 8, 2009

Meet will honor Penton family and their machines

A new era of family-style motorcycle swap meets begins Sunday, February 8, 2009 in Mozelle Hall at the Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Ohio. The inaugural Classic Swap Meet by Will Stoner opens its doors at 8:00 AM.

Veteran motorcycle event organizer Will Stoner returns to his roots after a ten-year stint as Special Events Director for the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA). "I'm grateful for my time at the AMA, but I'm excited about the opportunity to promote my own events and to develop some new projects" said Stoner. "Our goal is to develop a series of family-friendly motorcycling events that focus on the interests of the serious motorcycle enthusiast.  I have always considered the motorcycling community part of my family. Now I have the opportunity host the family reunions. Additionally, we want to help pass on our passion for motorcycling to the next generation. With that in mind, all future motorcyclists age sixteen and under will be admitted free to all Classic Swap Meets by Will Stoner, when accompanied by an adult".

The swap meet will feature all brands of motorcycles, parts, literature, memorabilia and accessories. Sharing the spotlight at the event will be a vintage motorcycle show. The show is open to all bikes 1989 or older, with awards in over ten classes up for grabs. Bike show entry fee is $10 for the first motorcycle and $5.00 for additional machines.

For extra "icing on the cake", off-road champion, industry trailblazer  and Hall of Famer John Penton and his son Jack Penton, multi-time ISDT medalist and fellow Hall of Famer will be the Guests of Honor. Additionally, Penton Motorcycles have been named the Featured Marque of the Meet. The Pentons will be on hand to sign autographs and chat with their fans. The Penton Owners Group (POG) will bring a display of significant Penton motorcycles.

Admission is $6.00 per person. Children under sixteen are free. Indoor and outdoor vendor spaces are $60.00 each.

A number of folks have called and emailed stating that they wish to leave after the POG meeting at the Museum on Saturday and stay the night near the location of Sunday's Will Stoner swapmeet. Will has been kind enough to secure a block of rooms at a reduced rate for us to use, the needed information is below.

Thanks Will  :D

I just spoke with Will about a couple of items.

First off a reminder that he has an updated phone number  440-591-5099

For those who wish to set up their booth at his swapmeet after the POG meeting, or wish to drop off bikes for the POG display or the motorcycle show, Will said that the doors will be open till 7pm Saturday evening.  He also asked me to remind everyone that he will have help on hand to get you moved into your booth.  I am thinking that the swapmeet is about an hour from the POG meeting, if someone knows for sure please pipe in.

Will said the swapmeet building is getting close to being full and he really appreciates the support he is getting. He said he still has a couple of booths available so give him a call if you want to get a space.

I know of several folks who are taking Penton items to sell so this might be the chance to get those needed items for your racer or restoration projects.

Paul

Paul,  Forest Stahl, Dan Beher, Kaleb and I will see you there.  Can't make the POG meeting on Saturday due to it being the same day as our MC Club's annual Land Owner appreciation banquet.  Having another National Enduro this year so we try to take care of our many fantastic Land Owners and also our Club Members. Bummer is, it's(National Enduro)on the same date as the ISDTRR but I am skipping out to ride the ISDTRR!  CIAO

The drive from the AMA to the swapmeet should be a little over an hour. The area where the "host" hotel has alot of other motels in that area. My motel for Mid ohio is right down the road from the Holiday Inn as well as a few decent restaurants. I haven't finalized my plans yet so I may or may not make it. Murphys Law is working overtime around here.

Ted,

We are set up along the wall just inside the center entrance.   We can get in at 7 with the doors open to the public at 8. The best way to enter is most likely from the right side of the building as I think the center door is for people only.  You will see the POG Easy Up when you get into the building.  Give me a call if you have a problem.

Wow, what a grest swapmeet, nice to see everyone enjoying themselves.  POG had a great display inside and we had great weather.  I found a few treasures here and there so hopefully the economy was stimulated.  Thanks Will Stoner for the great day and thanks to the POG staff for a great display!:D
