Post by: Ernie Phillips on March 02, 2009, 08:55:46 PM
Looking for info on ebay item # 280316818502.  The ad says bottom end built by POG member.  If that POG member could contact me at:

[email protected]

I'll like to learn more about the engine &  bike.  Thanks  -EP

Just out of curiousity, I e-mailed the seller about the frame number being a 54 ...., is this not a 250 frame or do I not have my production numbers down?  The seller confirms his belief that it is a Jackpiner.

Please clear me up on this, it is keeping me up at night !

I had an original 74.5 175 Enduro with the original engine that also had a 54- frame number. It seems that they used them for both for a while at least. Mike

By mid 1974 or so all of the frames for 175-250- 400 all started with the #54. It is what I have found on my bikes. LG

I had a 78 MC400 that had a frame # of 855***** and the engine # was 8-55*****.  There was no 54 stamped in the frame.

They dropped the #54's  with the the start of the new MC-5 frames and went to a new number ID's.
