I am having problems taking apart a set of Mazouchi forks. The seals seem welded in to the fork tubes and the sliders do not move at all. There was no water in the shocks so they are not rusted. Any trick out there to free them up.
My 1st late 78/early 79 MX-6 250 KTM with 38mm Marzocchis' were so stiff that when I bought it and ratchet strapped it down into my brothers pickup the forks stuck down, and after the bike sat for 6 months I was able to free them up by liberally applying PB Blaster penetrating fluid for a few days then turning the lowers with the axle through each fork one at a time with the front wheel off and the forks still on the bike. Don't forget there is a snap ring on top of the seals that hold them in. Just ask Phil Ketchum what happens to the top lip on the Magnesium lowers if you try to remove the seal without removing the snap ring first...Ouch. Mike

Thanks I will use the PB BLaster. I will have to move the bike from my shop to the barn as my wife complains about the smell of the PB Blaster, It is some nasty stuff but it works

Thanks for blabbing on me Mike! I'll blame it on working in poor light and I should have been wearing at least my glasses. It WAS quite ugly but I was able to pay a highly skilled welder to fix.
Phil
It did the trick Thanks
