Post by: Steve Minor on January 08, 2002, 01:43:43 PM
Hate to show my ignorance....again....but what is a cush drive rubber?.....I'm not familiar with that term.....are they on all Pentons?....like my 77 400 gs6?.....

I can't seem to find them in my manual...

Steve,

There are no ignorant questions if you don't know the answers.  The Sachs based Pentons and the original Jackpiner with square(non-conical) hub had one of two sizes of rubber bushings that went on the hub and interfaced with the sprocket driver.  That sounds like a non-mechanic trying to talk mechanic lingo.  Wait, that is what I am.  That is my best explanation.  The long and the short of it is that your bike does not have them and it is an improvement over earlier bikes.

Thanks Larry...even though it's a moot point in my case, still want to learn as much as I can about the history of the Penton.
