Kip....when you finish the 77 GS125 can you post some pictures or better yet, send me some directly? I have one too that I'm about to put together and I'd like some "visual aids"
Thanks

Will do Steve, it is coming together nicely. Will be taking it to Mid Ohio for sale along with a "74" 175, 250. I am also bringing a "74" 400 but it goes to the Classic Motorcycle Museum in St Louis.
I can or can-not believe in one fender.
Most of which we do, is under the guidance of a dream.
In Earnest, there is nothing like a well dressed Penton
In Consideration, I am very lucky to be a part of the Penton Owners Group.
Most of my parts come from members, what will happen if I run out?
I will have the pride, this is what JP has done for me.

Kip, thanks for the email, and pictures of your beautifull Pentons, kinda makes a guy feel proud.I returned to a peacefull place this w/e, after the almighty trout, and caught them as well...............
and the Penton "Campfire"? still there, perhaps after I wear out my Kawi.........I will take a Penton to the woods, still worth it.........
Thanks for all that you have done ;)

Kip,I know that you know the answer to this one as long as we are on the rear fender subject-I need a falk mx rear for my 75 125.Is it just me or does the DC plastics picture of one on ebay just look wrong? The shape and everything just does not look right to me.Am i losing it or what?Any thoughts on where to get an original falk mx or a very nice plastic copy,or are the DC's ok?Thanks a ton,
Ric
p.s- anyone else who has an answer about this please chime in!

Ric,
I have gotten a couple of those from DC and they look fine. They are not shiny like the originals but the shape is fine.

Ric,
Even DC Plastics will admit, that's not a copy of a Penton fender - it's a copy of a Preston Petty.
Bob
The actual Penton rear MX fenders are hard to find, let alone get a donor to replicate, thus the Preston Petty replacement copy. BTW, those of you who have tried the DC Plastics rear Enduro fender and know that it is a poor fit to the frame and leaves a large gap at the seat, you can thank Kip for providing an original Enduro Penton rear fender for DC Plastics to correct their mold from what originated as a Penton/Husky mix incorrectly fitting fender. Hopefully soon Don will have it corrected. Mike

Thanks Mike ,Rob,+ Larry for the info.I thought it looked like a PP.I have falk mx rears on my 75 250s i'd be willing to send to DC for him to copy, but does the fender get destroyed in the process?I'd hate to sacrifice one but if that's all i can do i will.

The worst case scenario is that there will be some putty type residue left on it that may or may not require light sanding to remove it. Mike

I'll call Don and see if he has time to copy them. Thanks Mike!

I have a 1977 250GS Penton that is all original. The Falk rear fender has a few small bruises, but should be acceptable for use as a replication. The Falk fenders were made of thin material which were fairly rigid and subject to fractures.
If anyone is in need of my fender for duplication, please let me know.
Tony
Hi Tony,I was trying to find a 75 mx rear.I think he has the gs series covered. Thanks,Ric

Actually, the reproduction of the 77-78 GS-6 fender was delayed due to shipping the reproduction fiberglass one I had purchased from Tom Brosius to Kip for his Mid-Ohio bike. Right now Don at DC Plastics doesn't have a GS-6 fender to reproduce, and I was going to send him the next available fender from Tom B, but an origiinal would be even better. Don does have an original 72-76 Falk Enduro fender to correct that pattern from, but not the GS-6. Also still needed is an original MX fender like Ric mentioned. Mike

Mike,I'll check both my 250's this weekend and make sure they are real Falks (i'm pretty sure at least one is)and go from there. Thanks for the help.

Ric,
Gary gave me an original MX rear fender that has a piece missing from one side that I can send to Don to reproduce, if you haven't already sent him one. He should be able to use it, even with the piece missing. I'll call him on Monday if I get the chance. Mike

Mike,Ihaven't already sent one.if he can use yours that would be great,i know now for sure one of mine isn't an original and i can't see the other until i move a bunch of bikes which i didn't have time to do over the weekend.Let me know either way. Thanks,Ric

Ric,
I didn't make it up to work until after Dons closing time, but I will try to work it into tomorrows schedule, as I brought it with me. I'll keep you updated.
Tony, are you interested in sending your original Gs-6 fender to Don, or would you rather wait for me to send one of Tom B's reproduction fiberglass ones? I know from Kips comments that Toms require a slight modification, (grinding) to allow the tail light shield to fit into the recess. Mike

Mike,
I spoke with Don this AM. I am sending my 77 Penton 250 GS6 rear fender to him today. He did tell me that it would be this winter before he can get to it. No problem for me since the bike has been sitting for 15 years.
So anyone lookinf for a Falk replica will have to wait until winter.
Tony
I also spoke with Don today, & am sending him the original MX rear fender that Gary provided, and Don thinks that the revision on the Preston Petty based MX fender could be done easily, and have a more correct looking rear Penton MX fender very soon. I am sending it out today. The GS-6 fender is a lot more involved with the complex angles around the tail light and would take longer to replicate. Mike

I remember GS6 fenders.....I actually had one for 2 days.
I bought a new 1977 400 and looped it the second day I had it...(high speed I might add)...broke the rear fender and crached the handle bars. The shop that sold me the Penton warned me about the power, but I didn't listen. But they were nice enouth to replace the stock rear fender with a PP fender and the bars with "Zappa" bars....still have them both!

Hi Mike, I do have a new (re-poped) GS fender. I was not able to supply Kip in time for his needs. It was gracious of you to ship him your fender. I do have some concerns, as I do not wish my fender to become a plug for DC Plastics. One of our members was very generous to donate his original, in that respect, it is in his honor, that I not do this.
I would happily send you payment for the fender.
Respectfully,
Tom Brosius

Tom,
You have mail. I would like to buy the fender that you were originally making for Kip for my 78 GS6 for show and non-competition riding to keep the finish nice. I have always maintained that your fenders are by far the best fit and quality, but I don't want to break them when I crash, (an ever increasing event it seems), in the woods. Mike
