Penton Talk / OT: ACL Tear Question
November 11, 2006, 07:45:14 PM
Well, thank you all for your opinions and stories. I guess I will have to see what the doctor has to say. In any event, I don't like the knee kicking out, I don't like the pain after it kicks out and I know I won't like the surgery or rehab after, but what you going to do?

thanks again guys,
geo

Penton Talk / Spray Can Restoration

Maicobuddy,
I'm very curious how that PJ1 KTM silver paint matches the Husky silver, have you tried it yet?
I've used PJ1 Clear Coat Epoxy on another Husky restore and it turned yellow on me, so be careful. I won't use that again.
How does the PJ1 KTM silver paint compare to the Husky silver BEFORE you clear coat it?

thanks

This is the first picture I've seen of the RR. I can't find any on the web, guess no one took pictures like last year.

Penton Talk / Vintage Hare Scramble

I've been lurking the message board for well over a year now, and thought it time to join in and give my two cents worth on this subject, seeing that you asked for opinions.
OnTheGasGas, I like the idea of some vintage races, especially a vintage trials and a vintage trail ride in upstate NY.
I'm thinking, I wouldn't like the idea of them being AHRMA events, because I would think there are a lot of riders in upstate NY that don't ride AHRMA events. Not everyone can and wants to travel the U.S. to ride AHRMA events. For a lot of riders, this just isn't feasible, time wise and financially. They just want to ride and have some fun on their vintage bikes.
Being a AHRMA event, I think, don't know for sure, but I would guess you have to join, unless there is some kind of release for those that don't care about the points, myself included.
I believe it would be worth a shot to keep it just on a local level at first and then if the club feels that it is an absolute must to make them AHRMA events, then so be it. Speaking for myself, to have to join AHRMA for one event a year, it wouldn't be worth it.
Just my two cents worth.

thank you,

Penton Talk / OT: ACL Tear Question
November 09, 2006, 12:44:29 PM
Has anyone out here torn the ACL in their knee? It's a complete tear and would like to get opinions on surgery or just phisical therapy from those who have gone through it. If you had surgery, can you pass on some of the things you went through? What I've been told, they don't usually do ACL surgery on people over 40-45 ish, I guess for not to active of a person.
I should have added I'm 59 and after a few weeks of therapy, the leg kicked out a few times and seems not to stable. I also understand it can cause more damage if it keeps kicking out.

thanks

Penton Talk / Need of a swingarm
May 07, 2006, 05:27:02 PM
I've asked Husky questions here before, because I know a lot of you guys own and ride Husky's as well as your Pentons. I'm looking for a 1982 Husky Automatic Enduro,(AE) swingarm. The Automatic swingarm is different from the WR's because of the lower shock mount. Well anyway, anyone here maybe have one, or know someone that may have one kicking around that they are looking to sell, hey, it don't hurt to ask!
One other question, would anyone have Lynn Burton's current email address handy?
thanks,

Penton Talk / Case bearing replacements
April 13, 2006, 04:42:24 PM
I have a general question regarding replacment case bearings. Although for my Husky, it seems maybe you Penton guys may have run into this too. I'm trying to get a bearing for my Husky, but I get a different one, the supplier telling me the new one is better. The new one has less ball bearings then the old, and it has a different race holding the balls in place.
I'm looking for a SKF 3205 c/3 and get something different. Anyone out here have any dealings with this with any of your bikes, and if possible, some suggestions as to where to get the same bearing I want? Here is a link to view bearings. Old on left, new on right.

Penton Talk / Rear shock suggestions
September 27, 2004, 10:49:24 AM
Hi all,
Although this question is not directly about Pentons, it still is something that all vintage riders have to decide on. Rear shocks, what is everyone using? I don't remember what came on the Pentons, but my later Huskys had Ohlins.

I have a rider, Husky 390 WR, used for woods, dual sports, enduro's, etc. Need some opinions on Works Performance shocks. I'd like to put a set of Ohlins piggy backs, but those are a ton of money. Next choice would be the WP's. What are some opinions on the total outlook of these shocks. I guess what I'd be interested in would be the steel bodied, dual rate spring model.

thanks,
