May 19, 2011, 08:13:54 AM
Thank you for the reply's. I did find my parts book last night and it shows the hocky stick braces on both sides of the engine. It showed left and right hand braces. Now I have to find a couple of right side braces!

Thank you for responding.I will contact you as soon as I get both bikes ready. Kip Kern said he could help but if I remember coorectly he is about three or four hours away. An hour or so sounds much better. I think they both have bing carbs and the stock ignition systems. Talk to you soon. Best Regards, Randy

Penton Talk / Fuel Tank Question
December 17, 2007, 12:50:42 PM
Yes,the tank is fiberglass. I will start draining my tanks when the bikes are not being used. Kind of a pain in the neck, but well worth it compared to messing up a perfectly good original tank like that.

Thanks, Randy

Wanted / For Sale / Aluminum MX Tanks ?
October 23, 2007, 01:07:30 PM
Thanks Dennis. I figured as much. One of our fellow Ohio POG members runs one on his bike and it looks very nice. Kind of has that factory race bike no nonsense look.  I also am pretty sure ,it makes a 250 Penton much faster because the couple times I have seen him race ,he was very fast.

I will be there on Saturday to pick up my Jackpiner wheel that you built for me and to VMX my 250 cc Penton with a Jackpiner blue fuel tank. (I just like the color) Really looking forward to it but there might be some pre race jitters. It has been so long since I have raced a bike ,I forgot what they feel like. Could be indegestion.

Penton Racing Talk / Crash & Burn Raceway
April 05, 2007, 09:56:07 AM
Rich. After thinking about it ,the jump I was talking about was at a track in Shreve, up by Wooster. It went down into a gully and when you came out of it the top was rounded and the ground just kind of faded away from you on the landing. It took awhile for gravity to do its job. I rode a Jackpiner with the number 5 on it at many of the tracks you listed. If you see it in any of the films, let me know.

Best Regards,

Penton Racing Talk / Crash & Burn Raceway

Rich. Thanks for your reply. I raced a CZ myself for awhile. When the track owner at Crash and Burn said my Jackpiner wasn't eligable for the 250 class, I borrowed a freinds CZ and raced them both. I had someone get the CZ ready while I ran the 200cc moto and then jumped on the CZ and ran the 250 class. It was fun but it was hard.
If I rememer  right, there was a guy from down your way that raced in the 200cc class with me that ended up organizing some races down somewhere around Killbuck. I might be getting my tracks confused but that track in Killbuck had a jump that would about take your breath away. Good times for sure.

Penton Talk / Shocking Question
January 12, 2007, 10:21:26 AM
I had a very informative and detailed conversation with a guy named Sandy at Works Performance shocks today. I think that I would go with their product over the Ohlins. They are also a couple hundred dollars cheaper!

I'm sure they could also help with shocks for a 125cc Penton. The number is (818) 701-1010 or //www.worksperformance.com

Penton Talk / Shocking Question
January 11, 2007, 08:06:54 AM
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm just stuck back in the seventies or maybe I'm just cheap. Whatever the case is , if I'm going to spend that much for rear shocks, I'll have to start saving my lunch money.

Penton Talk / PVL vs.MB-Z on 250 Penton
December 05, 2006, 01:14:13 PM
Thank you for the reply's to my question. Is the Mikuni carb something that can still be purchased new and how do you differentiate between the short and long intake manifolds. I assume the difference in lenght is not all that much.

Penton Talk / Spray Can Restoration
October 09, 2006, 09:59:25 AM
Ohio Ted. I used Dupli - Color 500 degree gloss engine paint on my pipe. I got it at Auto Zone. Someone on this sight suggested it at some point, so I gave it a try. It came out pretty nice. I don't know what it is going to look like after riding it for the first time this past weekend. If I rememebr right ,the same person who suggested using that paint ,said you should run the bike a few times to heat the paint up and them let it cool, before getting it all muddy and dirty.  I think that was sound advice. I will find out when I try and clean my bike up tonight.
