Ron,
 I have a 73 jackpiner the serial # starts with a 54 prefix. The bike has the green mx tank & the same exhaust you have. I have a set of green preston petty plastic fenders on it. I do know what you mean about metal fenders, they sure do look sharp.

Mike I also have a 73 jakcpiner (Black motor) Another thing that might come into play is the splines on the main shaft & the one the clutch is on. I have seen the splines get worn & the gears on the shaft will have a lot of back lash that will make the noise you desribed. This is unlikely but worth a look. I agree it is probably the clutch discs or the basket. hope this helps.

Hi guy's I'm back too. I've neglected beimg around a while. My favorite 2 places are the Sam houston National Forest in New Waverly (North of Houston) & Rio Bravo mx park off of beltway 8 & East Mount Houston road. The national forest is just 5 dollars all day. There is about a minimum of 80 miles of trails, & that is if you stay on the marked trails. I hope the info helps.

Hi Guys, It's been a while. I've been out of the loop for a while. unfortunatley I find my self with no bikes & I am looking to buy a couple of bikes to go through & introduce my son to the real bikes "vintage". any way I don't really have a preference on the bikes, I would like to do another Penton. I guess what I am saying it It don't really matter what brand they are. I though I would try here first since you guys helped me out so much in the past. I live near houston texas. I don't care what the bikes look like because I plan on going through them. The main thing is like everyone elses right now with the economy money is tight. please let me know what you have. I regret that I am selling my Penton.[V] It is for a good cause though, to help pay for medicine for my mother. My father & I bought the bike in 1994 & restored it in 1995. My father rode it once up at the sam houston national forest & other wise it was just idled around. The bike went into storage in late 1995 & I got it out in 2005 & cleaned it up again & got it running again. since then it sat again for 2 more years until last weekend when I got the call for help for my mom. I cleaned it up & put some fuel in it & it started about the 5th kick. The bike always has started with no problems. The frame numbers show it is a july 1973 & the engine numbers show as a 1972. It is the 175 KTM engine. we couldn't find anyone with fenders when we restored it so we put a set of preston petty fenders on it. The tank is green. I've been told it is an mx tank. so we painted the other parts green to match. I don't really know what to ask for it the nada was something like $2800 so I figure I guess i'll ask for $2000 I took the bike to an old school mxers meet 2 years ago. I have pictures but don't know how to put them on here. Thanks for any replies Shaun

Has anyone heard anything on this years reunion? It was a whole lot of fun last year. I got to meet a lot of people & introduce my son to the vintage scene. I hope to ride my penton this year, man time flies!:)
