If Gary's idea doesn't work out, Noleens in CA made my '81 250 perfect for me. If only the Marzocchi forks were as good!

Are your vent tubes blocked or kinked?

As usual, you are correct Herr Wilford!
You've saved me twice now.
Thanks!

Doug:
At the mouth of the carb?

Jon--I was certain it was clear, and it was.
Doug--Thought of that--because I did it on my 400 once!
I forgot about checking the exhaust and will do so tonight.

The only thing changed recently is plugging the the choke opening in the carb body. I checked that and it is sealed, still.

It tickles just fine-even though one of the taps leaks a little, just for fun.
Would the ground issue cause it to start well, but not pick up revs?
I'll run a separate ground. I had to do that on my Husky but it would not start at all before I ran it.
Thanks, guys, I'll let you know what happens.

It is behaving exactly as it did with the Bosch points system I put on all those years ago. That is why I have discounted an electrical issue.

Can anyone identify the Sachs engine in the picture on the web site?
It has a late sunburst head but the cases are shaped like a Zundapp.

I don't know if it relates directly, but I raced my Jackpiner for years with just one of them. We all took one off to facilitate carb access. Never had a problem (I'm aware of, anyway!) because of it.

I hear you on that!
My Penton, Husky and Monark all had yellow plates.
Fortunately, I had some white overlays left over from my roadracing days. Some annoying time spent cutting them to the proper shape solved that problem.
So you might try some of the roadrace suppliers. They probably still sell those white backgrounds. They were about 14 X 12, I think.

And if you find one, perhaps someone here can confide the secret in getting it affixed!
I carried one in my spare parts for years because I couldn't get it to fit on the spigot, even though it fit fine without the carb, and fit fine in the carb!

Try OzKTM for rubber parts;

...if Al Buehner doesn't have it.

You really want to start something, don't you? :) Gear oil really starts things flying.
But Tom Penton told me: two quarts of ATF.
Good enough for me.

desmond197: why didn't you say so?
I was just over at Warner Robins riding my son's recently completed '74 BMW R/75 and we needed a destination! Maybe next time.
