Hi Clay can you provide your friends contact on these bikes? If not I'm interested in a pre '74 bike for an auction our club is holding. The Bultacos or the BSAs may be the best suited. Cheers

Wanted / For Sale / lectron carb
December 20, 2011, 08:50:25 PM
Hi Steve, it is not hard to replace the towers on a carb body. Just drill, pin with small dowel and devcon them on. If the tower is missing use a small aluminum dowel and drill and file as necessary.
The towers usually get broken when trying to drive the pin out without supporting the towers and the pin is corroded  or the pin only goes one way. ( I always guess wrong)
If you really want a new body I might have a 36 mostly complete. let me know. Cheers DG

what size lectron should be on a 76   250 mc 5 ?  36 or 38

i think its a 38 but the post for the floats is broken where it comes out of the body.  can't seem to find a replacement.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you, some pictures of a project I just completed.
The job was to fabricate, new, 2/3 of a Kenny Roberts/Penton Short Track frame.
The clients KRP frame had been severely cut up, and altered from previous hackers. So the mission was to use the few good tubes it had left, and rebuild a new frame from the ground up.
Since I have an original KRP frame to go from, I was able to have all the dimensional information needed. I made prints, then hired-out the computerized bending of the tubes, (1" OD x .065 Chromoly). After that I developed all the lengths, mitered the angles on the ends, and made new swingarm mounting plates. Then fitted and tacked it together to the point you see here.
From this point, the client chooses to finish it on his own.
I'll/we'll keep you posted on the completed project.

Penton Talk / Dissolving Magensium Scale
March 05, 2007, 08:03:30 PM
I agree with all the previous advice. After the cases are cleaned and repaired with the devcon the Glyptal is an electric motor paint that should be available in spray can. i am now using it to coat all the interior surfaces and that will end all chance of future rot. used to paint race car engines inside with the stuff to drain the oil back faster. Cheers Don

After a year's layoff due to ill health (long story) I'm finally starting the restoration job on a '74 400 that emigrated from a back yard in Texas all the way to Western Australia

Splitting the cases has revealed the usual KTM magnesium rot, with the added bonus of the crank looking like something from a science experiment. The crank, shaft and bearings all look fine except for the thick layer of mag scale.

In the hope of avoiding the hours of elbow-grease to manually remove the crud, is there a magic chemical that can dissolve the white scale?

Cheers & thanks,

Penton Talk / Project: KRP frame rebuild
September 23, 2006, 11:11:06 AM
Hi, I guess I need to pay more attention to the site. i purchaseda aKRP tank from just last year First Klass Glass as he does have a mould. The price was resonable and the service was great. Call Jack at 989-871-2360 in Mich.
I would buy two tail pieces if they are being reproduced.

Wanted / For Sale / Kenny Roberts Penton Flattracker Pipe
September 23, 2006, 11:02:25 AM
Hi Ron,
I'm the guy rebuilding KRP frame #018 with the help of Bob Wardlow. I'M still interested in a 250 pipe for a KRP 250. Is that project still on? I also heard from Bob there was some one building a mould for the tail piece. Do you know who doing that work as I would buy two of them as soon as they are done. Thanks in advance.
Don G.

Penton Talk / Project: KRP frame rebuild
July 26, 2006, 12:17:24 AM
Hi Guys, Just wanted to thank Bob Wardlow for all the help and work that he has put into the chassis parts for me. The replacement tubes he produced are fantastic and the only thing I regret is not ordering double of everything to build another chassis at the same time.
Between Supermoto, Flat Track and some family vaction time the frame rebuild has been relegated to a winter project.
The frame is in a jig however and ready to be dismantled, a motor is ready to install thanks to Al Bruehner and the body parts and wheels are well on the  way to being completed. Just need a few things like an exhaust and fork tubes that aren't rusty. May have to change the Mexican Ceriani's for a set of Betors.
Hats off to Bob and many thanks. A project like this is never easy but Bob's efforts have saved this bike from the junk heap. If all is well the bike will be at Mid Ohio next year for you all to check out.
Cheers for now and enjoy Mid Ohio.

Wanted / For Sale / Where are my KRP triple clamps?
December 21, 2014, 04:14:35 PM
Can't recall the POG member that wanted an original set of KRP flattrack triple clamps to copy. I was not worried as I trusted him to get back to me when they were done.
Please let me know who has them and where the project is at. I could use a a couple of re-popped sets as well.
Cheers. Don G. 780-966-3590

Wanted / For Sale / Wanted 1974 1/2 Penton/KTM frame
December 21, 2014, 04:09:59 PM
Over use or over enthusiasm has found the frame on one of my MX  bikes now with too much rake.
Could possibly repair it but hope to find a stock 5440 frame for a 250 that has been striped and needs a home.
Am racing in Seattle, Portland area in the new year so west coast is best for pick-up
