January 12, 2018, 12:12:24 PM
I am very excited to see all of you in March! For those of you asking about HOTELS IN THE AREA.

There are a number but many are very old and not recommended. Following are three that I will recommend.

All are 10 to 15 minutes from KTM. The Hampton is the newest, the Country is the lease cost and the Holiday is the closest.

Country Inn and Suites - Elyria, OH 440-324-0099 8.3 mi east

Hampton Inn and Suites - Elyria, OH 440-324-7755 9.4 mi east

Holiday Inn - Vermilion, OH 440-9678770 7.7 mi west

See you soon, Jack.

Hi Guys,

Penton Products offers PVL ignitions in two piece (coil and CDI) or a single combined unit. The function is identical but the two piece design allows for fitments with less room under the tank.

It is very important to ground BOTH the coil and CDI components. If they are combined the coil/CDI mount will provide an effective ground. Both the coil and the CDI have a black ground wire with ring terminals for grounding to the frame. The independent CDI depends solely on this ground wire for its ground.

We are always available to answer your questions regarding our products. Please feel free to contact us at: [email protected] or call 440-898-4474

Hope this helps.

Hi JT,

A third edition of the book is at the printers right now and will be available in about two weeks. This updated version has a new cover and foreword that celebrates the movie and gives credit to the book for inspiring the movie.

It is our, the POG's, intentions to impendent a more streamlined on line sales system so you will be able to order the book on-line from this site in the near future.

Have a great day!

Penton Talk / Very Cool KTM 50
January 13, 2014, 07:42:11 PM
Thanks Sixdazed and ditto.
We all miss Dane, Al Born and all of our friends that can no longer share their memories with us. As time passes the memories that make up the motorcycling history continue to become more precious.
Fortunately Todd Huffman has captured hundreds of hours of the offroad history while filming interviews for the John Penton movie. Sigi was one of those interviews and it was so good to see him last fall. After all of these years he is still very special to the history of KTM and to Dad and me.

Have a great evening!

It is true that the motorcycle I rode in the Café Racer episode had mechanical problems but I would like to point out a couple of things before we put the final bullet in the builder.

Let he who has never made a mechanical error throw the first stone. History records infinite numbers of mechanical errors in the most critical situations possible. Even NASA is susceptible to human error.

As motorcyclist we are in dire need of youth to carry on the sport of motorcycling. This young family displayed a significant amount of dedication to the sport we know and love and the family they create has the good fortune of parents that can teach them and encourage them to become another generation of motorcyclist. If we do not support the generations that follow us as the generations before us did motorcycling as we know it will become extinct.

One last thought. If my new friends had not "chopped up" that old KTM we would not even be having this conversation and the link between Penton and KTM would not have been made to any of those Café Racer fans that watched that episode.

Let's just say sorry for the mishap. I took one for the team and I am good with that. PS I broke my leg but I did it riding a bike which in our world is an expectable way of getting sympathy from the chicks. Gigi my wife nursed me back to health all is good.

Thanks guys I will always respect you and your enthusiasm for the Penton brand.

Penton Talk / Buck Murphy - the Man, the Myth
January 09, 2014, 10:41:27 AM
So far this tread has some truth some fiction.

KTM is 60 years old and from 1953 until 1989 it was owned by the Trunkenpolz family. KTM was purchased from bank ownership by the current owners who revived the company and built it into the largest motorcycle manufacture in Europe. It is currently a 3/4 of a billion dollar company.

To say that Ken Roczen, Ryan Dungy and Jason Anderson were on the Anaheim I Supercross podium last Saturday because of John Penton/Penton Imports needs to be put into perspective. The contribution by Penton was made over forty years ago to a company that went bankrupt. You may be thinking but, but, but......  The John Penton movie will provide a much better view of the amazing relationships that were forged to initiate and develop the Penton/KTM sport motorcycle over that first ten year period of and the residual impact on the KTM we know today.

It is not reasonable to accuse Davey Coombs of being unknowledgeable about the sport of American motocross. He is, in my opinion, the foremost authority in this area of history. Please do not be offended by his description of the Penton motorcycle. I interpret Davey description of the Penton motorcycle as a way for the unfamiliar reader to quickly understand that there was a relationship between KTM and Penton Imports. It is the POG and Penton friends' responsibility to tell the "rest of story". The book and the movie are the perfect tools for this purpose.

Todd Huffman of Pipeline Digital, the movie producer, and I are working on the movie screenings and we will need Movie Captains to host the John Penton Story in your home towns. Stay tuned and I will share how you can help. Until then please go to https://gathr.us/films/penton , hit the NOTIFY button and sign up to get movie updates from me and Todd.

Thanks guys I love your enthusiasm and passion and I hope we cross trails in 2014.
